Overview:

Birmingham New Street Station fully opened to the public in September 2015.

The station has over 170,000 passengers every day, nearly treble the number it was designed for, currently the busiest station outside of London.

The development brings local job opportunities as well as a much lighter and brighter experience for visitors and a fantastic first impression of the city.

The Grand Central shopping centre, anchored by John Lewis, provides over 40 new premium fashion and lifestyle shops.

Severfield provided just over 3,300 tonnes of steel for this project, which consisted of 41 plate girders, the heaviest weighing 26 tonnes.

Working with Mace for the end client Network Rail, all our scheduled work was completed in-line with the project progression.
