Overview:

This Energy from Waste (EfW) plant at Haverton Hill on Teesside will treat 220,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste and commercial waste per annum for 25 years.

The heat produced by the incineration process is used to drive a steam turbine to generate electricity for the national grid, enough for approximately 30,000 local households.

Severfield provided the fabrication and erection of the 1,800 tonnes of structural and secondary steelwork used in this project.

Some key technical details are below:

Large spanning 35m roof trusses on tipping hall
45m x 9m primary spine truss to boiler/FGT area

50m tall boiler house, steel erected in phases to facilitate client plant installation

Steelwork framing to the cantilevering control room on the waste bunker
