Sir Robert McAlpine
The main 2012 Olympic Stadium was the centre piece of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
It is located in on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park at Stratford, East London and had a capacity for the games of approximately 80,000, making it temporarily the third largest stadium in Britain. It hosted the opening and closing ceremonies and the athletics and Paralympic athletics events.
The venue was designed to be scaled down after the event to as little as 25,000 seats, when it became a new home for athletics, combined with other sporting, community and educational uses. Severfield utilised more than 10,000 tonnes of structural steelwork in the project.
