Overview:

With a population of 1.1 million and 10,000+ finance professionals, Birmingham is the UK’s second-largest city. Recent years have seen Birmingham being transformed to provide more improved amenities and an established business community; this included the transformation of Birmingham New Street Station.

Currently, Three Snowhill is the latest development right in the centre of the business district. The 19-storey office block neighbours One and Two Snowhill and is the final element of the Snowhill Estate.

For the structure, Severfield fabricated and constructed 4,500 tonnes of steelwork. In excess of 2,500 cast-in plates were individually surveyed and site welded by our construction team. The site location, bounded by main arterial roads to two sides, a live tramline and Two Snowhill meant that logistics and steel delivery times were paramount in achieving the site programme.

On completion, Three Snowhill will offer occupants a modern, flexible and spacious office environment, featuring variations in floorplate layouts and depths which were achieved by a complex arrangement of cantilevered and suspended steel frames, supported from sloping and vertical columns – a challenging construction form. The building will also be crowned with an elegant curved steel and glass atrium roof structure.

Severfield’s construction team on site delivered and maintained an excellent health and safety performance during construction – so much so that they were given the supply chain SHE performance award for two consecutive months.

“The Severfield (NI) performance from tender through to construction stage at all levels has been fantastic, a truly collaborative partnership/approach in all respects be it relationships, programme, H&S, Quality, Design or Construction.” - Paul Avery, BAM Construction Manager.
