This week is National Apprenticeship Week. This annual celebration of apprenticeships brings the whole apprenticeship community together, enabling us, along with many other companies, the opportunity to share some of the positive and inspiring people we have working for us.
Severfield is passionate about recruiting apprentices and aim to welcome at least 10 apprentices across Severfield each year, providing placements for Platers, Welders, Maintenance Engineers and Steel Erectors.
We firmly believe that as well as the benefits an apprentice receives from us; a life skill, career and an opportunity to work on some of the UK’s most iconic projects – we, as a company, also benefit hugely from our apprentices invaluable enthusiasm and their willingness to learn new skills and methods that are defined by our own high quality and safety standards.
Speaking on behalf of the Apprentice Platers and Welders at our Lostock factory, Severfield’s General Manager, Andrew Smedley: “We are proud of what they achieve and firmly believe that the future success of our business relies very much on us continuing to train our people, giving them the correct skill set to become tomorrow’s engineers.”
“Not only do we give internal support mentoring and training throughout our apprenticeships, we have also taken a lead role in chairing the ‘Trailblazer Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship Level 3’ with training providers and other industry colleagues. The Metal Fabricator Apprenticeship received full approval from the Institute for apprenticeship in January this year and we are now looking forward to delivering the standard along with our training providers.”
We firmly believe that our tomorrow will be built by todays apprentices.
Don’t miss us – as part of our involvement in National Apprenticeship Week – we’ll be at York College tomorrow (Tuesday 5 March 2019) at the Employment Marketplace Event from 3pm-7.30pm.
