In May this year, a number of Year 13 engineering students from Scarborough University Technical College (UTC) delivered presentations to a couple of our engineers as a part of a Project Based Learning activity involving the design, modelling and manufacture of a bridge for a given industrial brief.

The Severfield engineers, Dan Dockerty and Tom Clarke, were really impressed with how the students had successfully modified their designs following the initial technical presentations and engineer feedback - and also how the students demonstrated resilience by completing the project through the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A huge well done to Calista, Poppy and Connor for their cable stay styled bridge design which was judged as the winner by both Dan and Tom.

We'd also like to join Scarborough UTC in thanking Tom for supporting the project throughout this academic year.
