At Severfield, sustainability is a core part of who we are and how we work. On World Environment Day, we're pleased to reflect on the progress we continue to make in reducing our environmental impact across the business.

Recognised achievements in carbon reduction and responsible sourcing

We are thrilled to announce that we have achieved our Achilles Carbon Reduce Certification for the fourth consecutive year. This recognition reflects our continued efforts to measure, manage, and reduce our carbon emissions through a credible, independently verified process.

This year’s recertification has been even more significant, as we have achieved a ‘reasonable’ assurance for the first time. The context of assurance in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission data verification relates to the level of scrutiny applied and the level of confidence (>95%) in the accuracy of the reported data.

Achieving reasonable assurance demonstrates our strong commitment to data accuracy and transparency, an important step in our journey that highlights our commitment to our Net Zero Roadmap 2050.

In addition to our carbon reduction success, we are also proud to confirm the retention of our BES 6001 certification (‘Very good’ rating). Developed by BRE Global, the BES 6001 Framework provides clear guidance for reducing the social and environmental impact of materials sourcing, and we are proud to integrate this framework fully into our wider sustainable procurement strategy.

This certification recognises our responsible sourcing practices and sets us apart as leaders in responsible sourcing and management within the steel construction industry.

Driving progress across our industry

Both achievements demonstrate our long-standing commitment to environmental responsibility, from carbon management to ethical procurement. We understand our industry's important role in building a more sustainable future, and we are proud to lead by example.

Thank you to all our stakeholders, partners, and colleagues who have supported us on this journey.
