Largest steelwork ever to leave Lostock

Over the last few weeks, our team at Lostock has been working closely with our haulage partner, Collett & Sons Ltd, on the transportation of the largest pieces of steelwork to ever leave the site.

We transported four structural steel bridge sections from Lostock to the A629 Salterhebble Bridge project in Halifax. Each steelwork section measured 48 metres long, 1.35 metres high, and weighed an impressive 56 tonnes!

We caught up with Andrew Smedley‍‍, Christopher Wowk‍, and Paul Hardy‍ ‍on the final week of transportation and captured some impressive video footage of our teams working on the project. Take a look at the video below.

Severfield’s second tallest structure to date. The new 1,030ft (314-metre) replacement for the Bilsdale mast

Severfield has been awarded the contract to fabricate the new 200-tonne structure by Arqiva, the company which operates the mast, and on Friday Severfield welcomed Paul Donovan, CEO of Arqiva, Donnie Whyte, Divisional Commercial Director for Waldon Telecom, part of M Group Services, and local MP, Kevin Hollinrake to see a section of the mast at our Dalton facility near Thirsk.
